Job summary

Gersh Autism Academy in Bronx, NY seeks a dedicated Special Education Teacher to serve as the Primary Educator for our students in a year-round school program. You will lead instructional activities and maintain ongoing communication with families in a school setting.

Responsibilities include implementing IEP goals, attending CSE/IEP meetings, updating IEPs, and collaborating with BCBA and administrative staff to support students aged 5-21 across our program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in education, special education or related field (or professional certification)
• NY Teaching Certification required
• Experience with ADHD, LD, HFA or related disabilities preferred
• Experience in assessment and report writing preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead daily instructional programs aligned with IEP goals.
• Communicate with parents/caretakers for student participation.
• Familiarize with software tools used for instruction.
• Use motivational strategies to engage students.
• Prepare daily/weekly lesson plans aligned with IEP goals.
• Attend and participate in CSE/IEP meetings as needed.
• Update IEPs/goals as required.
• Coach and mentor parents to support learning at home.
• Prepare resources, lesson plans and materials.
• Monitor and document student participation and progress.
• Communicate progress and roadblocks to supervisor/BCBA.
