Gersh Academy in West Hempstead, NY is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to serve as the Primary Educator for our students. You will lead daily instructional activities and communicate with families to support each child's participation.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred), NY State Teaching Certification, and experience with ADHD, LD, and related disabilities. This is a year-round, full-time position with occasional after-hours team meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education or special education or related field (Master’s preferred)
• New York State Teaching Certification required
• Experience with ADHD, LD, HFA or related disabilities preferred
• Experience in assessment and report writing preferred
• ABA experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead daily instructional programs to drive student achievement.
• Communicate with parents/caretakers to support participation.
• Utilize digital tools and platforms for instruction as applicable.
• Use motivational strategies to engage students in learning.
• Prepare daily and weekly lesson plans aligned with IEP goals.
• Record attendance and document instructional outcomes.
• Attend CSE/IEP meetings and update goals as needed.
• Coach and mentor parents to support daily learning.
• Prepare resources and monitor student participation.
• Report progress and roadblocks to supervisor and BCBA.
