Job summary

Onward Education is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher (ASD) to join a Wayne County school for the 2026-2027 year. This full-time, in-person role supports grades 6-8, 35 hours per week, with a daily schedule from 8:15 AM to 3:30 PM.

The ideal candidate holds a Michigan teaching certificate with Special Education/ ASD credentials, experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder in inclusive or specialized settings, and strong collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

• Valid Michigan teaching certification with the appropriate Special Education / ASD credentialing.
• Experience supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder in inclusive and/or specialized classroom settings.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement IEPs tailored to each student's needs.
• Collaborate with general education staff and support teams to design and deliver inclusive instruction.
• Monitor and document student progress; adjust strategies and supports as needed.
• Support classroom behavior and facilitate social skill development using effective, student-centered approaches.
• Communicate regularly with families and school teams regarding student progress and needs.

• Pay Range: $50-$55/hour based on experience
