Job summary

Onward Education in Essex County, Massachusetts, is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time position supports middle school students with autism and/or intellectual delays through targeted instruction within the general education setting.

Hours are 7:15am–2:15pm with a pay range of $51–$58 per hour. Ideal candidates are licensed in Special Education, experienced with disabilities, collaborative, and student-centered.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Work with students individually or in small groups based on their specific needs.

• Reinforce and build skills that students may be struggling with in the general education classroom.
• Develop and implement instruction aligned with students' IEP goals.
• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction and interventions as needed.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and school staff.
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of student goals and services.
• Maintain accurate documentation and progress-monitoring data.
• Support students in becoming more independent and successful within the general education environment.

The Special Education Teacher provides small-group and/or individualized instruction to middle school students that are diagnosed with autism and/or intellectual delays. This is a great opportunity for a special education educator who enjoys providing targeted interventions, building strong student relationships, and collaborating with general education teachers to help students succeed.
