Your Role as a Special Education Teacher

• Contribute to IEP development and implementation, create lesson plans, and tailor instructional strategies.
• Complete documentation including IEPs, progress reports, and evaluations in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, parents, and staff to support student progress.
• Maintain classroom organization, implement behavior management, and crisis intervention strategies.
• Conduct assessments, monitor progress, and document behavior data.
• Ensure safety, adhere to policies, and assist students with self-care as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• Active PA teaching certification (Private Academic Certificate, Level I or II Special Education Certification K-12).
• Candidates with a bachelor’s degree and at least six credit hours in special education may qualify for a Temporary Certificate.
• All teachers must obtain PA licensure by August 1, 2025.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
