Special Education Teacher – Regular
We are hiring for a Special Education Teacher to provide educational services to individuals with intellectual, developmental, and mental health challenges. The salary is $42,000.00 with a $5,000 sign‑on bonus.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate the functioning level and needs of service users using formal and informal diagnostic tools.
- Participate as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team in developing each service user’s individual program.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure the provision of quality services.
- Develop and implement educational training programs as established by the team.
- Conduct and monitor training and behavioral programs.
- Design curriculum and activities for the classroom.
- Document progress notes in service users’ records relative to objectives.
- Revise plans as needed to facilitate ongoing progress on objectives.
- Plan educational outings and field trips for service users, and participate as appropriate.
- Ensure the supply of educational materials for classroom use.
- Assist other clinicians in the implementation of programs they develop.
- Follow Department of Public Instruction regulations in the development and provision of educational services.
- Participate in the Quality Assurance Assessment system as assigned.
- Assist nursing staff in ensuring overall health care of service users.
Qualifications
- B.S. in Special Education or a related field with adaptive curriculum experience.
- Willingness to obtain Pre‑K through 12th Grade certification upon request or as needed.
- Valid North Carolina driver’s license and personal auto liability insurance if transporting service users.
- Current valid teaching certification/license, or actively working towards it.
- Proficiency in company-sponsored required training.
- Required certifications may include CPR, First Aid, NCI A, NCI B, CPI, and others as specified by state and federal standards.
