Contract Position at Thornton School District: Part-Time and Full-Time positions available. Compensation: $55.00 / hr.

Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with diverse learning needs in a supportive and inclusive environment.

This role requires a strong commitment to fostering the academic, social, and emotional growth of students while implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each child's unique requirements.

Requirements:

• CO SPED License - Must have applied for 6 months of Special Education experience.

Duties:

1. Develop and implement lesson plans that accommodate the diverse learning styles of students.
2. Assess student progress through standardized testing and ongoing evaluations to ensure educational goals are being met.
3. Collaborate with parents, teachers, and support staff to create a cohesive educational experience for each student.
4. Utilize learning technology and adaptive tools to enhance instruction and engagement.
5. Provide instruction in literacy education, physical education, and other subjects as needed.
6. Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation and communication.
7. Maintain accurate records of student performance and behavior, providing feedback to parents and guardians regularly.
8. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in special education.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Experience working with students in a private school setting.
• Strong knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices.
• Proficiency in lesson planning for diverse learners.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Familiarity with literacy education strategies for students with varying abilities.
• Ability to effectively integrate learning technology into the classroom.
• Experience in physical education or adaptive physical activities is a plus.
• A compassionate approach towards teaching children with special needs, ensuring their dignity and respect at all times.
