Seneca is hiring a Special Education Teacher to provide multi-grade, standards-based instruction and academic interventions at Creekside Middle School (Castro Valley), Washington Manor Middle School (San Lorenzo), or Arroyo High School (San Lorenzo). Our Special Education Teachers ensure students’ needs are met within the guidelines of the Individualized Educational Program (IEP) and the Treatment Plan. They foster successful environments where students' strengths are celebrated and their needs addressed with targeted interventions. As a teacher, you’ll collaborate with a team including School Therapists, Classroom Counselors, and Educational Leaders to connect diverse students to therapeutic services, community resources, and an outstanding academic curriculum.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to implement academic, behavioral, and therapeutic services for students with emotional disturbances
  • Use backwards design principles to deliver a differentiated curriculum based on state content standards
  • Employ student-centered instructional methods as defined by the school's Learning Principles
  • Use authentic and norm-referenced assessments to monitor progress and guide instruction
  • Provide individualized academic interventions for at-risk learners
  • Engage caregivers in the educational process, providing opportunities to discuss student growth and needs
  • Co-lead the classroom team to maintain a structured therapeutic learning environment based on Seneca's philosophy
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree AND possession of a California Education Specialist teaching credential (Prelim Ed Specialist, Intern, STSP / PIP, or Special Education)
  • TB test clearance, fingerprints, and other mandatory State/Federal requirements
  • COVID-19 vaccination
  • Demonstrated interest in Special Education and Teaching
Schedule
  • School-based schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM - 4 PM
  • Five weeks of paid time off, 11 paid holidays, and 33 paid school break days
Benefits

Starting salary depends on credentials. Seneca covers credential tuition costs for teachers interested in working as a special education teacher.

  • Salary ranges:
    - $69,000 - $83,000 for teachers on a STSP / PIP credential / Long-term substitute
    - $72,100 - $85,000 for teachers on an Education Specialist Intern credential
    - $76,220 - $90,220 for teachers on a Special Education credential
    Additional annual increase of $4,160 with a Master’s in Education or related field
    - $2000 sign-on bonus! Salary increases each year
