About Campbell Union School District (CUSD)

CUSD is a PreK-8 school district serving parts of 6 cities in Santa Clara County. We educate over 7,500 students, focusing on developing their ability to be self-directed, innovative, collaborative, empathetic, and critical thinkers. Our teachers, administrators, and staff support each other in providing students with an education beyond the expected.

Job Description

Under the direction of the site administrator, to provide an educational program for students; to assist in other school programs and activities as part of professional responsibilities; to perform other adjunct duties as assigned, and related work as required.

Performance Responsibilities
  1. Provides an instructional program aligned with California State Standards using the adopted curriculum.
  2. Implements district regulations and policies.
  3. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials to motivate students and optimize instructional time.
  4. Utilizes appropriate instructional techniques and strategies to meet individual student needs.
  5. Evaluates and maintains records of students' academic and social growth.
  6. Communicates with parents regarding student progress and school programs.
  7. Collaborates with faculty on student progress and needs.
  8. Identifies student needs and collaborates on assessments and resolutions for health, attitude, and learning issues.
  9. Administers mandated tests as per district and state requirements.
  10. Supervises students as assigned.
  11. Participates in curriculum, staff meetings, and professional development.
  12. Plans and supervises instructional aides' work as required.
  13. Participates in outdoor education programs as required.
  14. Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment.
  15. Establishes and maintains behavioral standards for a positive learning atmosphere.
  16. Prepares and submits reports and maintains records as required.
  17. Maintains professional competence through ongoing professional development.
Qualifications
  • Valid California Teaching Credential(s)
  • English Language Authorization
  • No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Certificate of Compliance
  • CBEST
  • Baccalaureate Degree or higher from an accredited institution
  • Successful completion of student teaching or qualification in an internship program
Knowledge and Abilities
  • Knowledge of teaching principles, methods, and strategies for multi-age students.
  • Understanding of child development and behavioral characteristics.
  • Knowledge of curriculum, instructional goals, trends, and research.
  • Behavior management and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions, plan and develop instructional programs, assess student needs, and communicate effectively with parents and students.
  • Ability to work with diverse student populations and establish cooperative relationships.
Reports To

Site Administrator

Terms of Employment

Salary and work year per the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Campbell Elementary Teachers' Association.

Evaluation

Based on district policies, procedures, and the existing contract.

Physical Demands

Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach, talk, hear, and lift/move up to 25 pounds, with occasional lifts up to 50 pounds. Accommodations available for disabilities.
