Job summary

QSAC is seeking a Special Education Teacher in the Bronx, NY, serving individuals aged 5-22 on the autism spectrum. The role requires NYS Students with Disabilities certification and involves implementing IEPs, classroom management, and collaboration with families and staff.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job description

This position requires you to work with individuals on the Autism Spectrum between the ages of 5-22 years old

Salary range is $65,000-$90,000 annually - Commensurate with level of certification, education, experience and ABA credentials (if applicable).

Location of position is in Bronx, NY

Job Summary

QSAC Special Education Teachers require NY State certification (Students with Disabilities/1-6, 7-12). Teaching responsibilities include implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEP), classroom management, participation in annual meetings, and completion of required reports. Extensive training and support are provided with opportunities for professional growth and development.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complete required QSAC orientation.
  • Ensure health, safety & welfare of individuals.
  • Conduct formal and informal assessments of educational programs and behavior interventions.
  • Supervise Teacher’s Assistants/Aides and participate in the implementation of educational programs and behavior interventions.
  • Implement and adhere to IEP/Student Program.
  • Supervise and implement completion of program/student documentation.
  • Supervise and delegate responsibilities to Teacher’s Assistants/Aides.
  • Complete and maintain training requirements.
  • Complete required program documentation/certifications (e.g. Employee Medicals, PPD, CPR, etc. as required).
  • Interact/communicate with parents, college interns, professionals, and other interested visitors.
  • Punctuality and regular attendance is expected.
  • Maintain participant/family confidentiality.
  • Commitment to company values and adherence to policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors and/or senior management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education along with an NYS certification in at least one of the following areas: Students w/ Disabilities 1-6, 7-12, or All Grades of Initial, Professional, or Internship levels (Assistance towards obtaining certification provided for those who meet qualification criteria)
  • Experience with Autism and Applied Behavior Analysis preferred.
  • Ability to run.
  • Ability to safely assist lifting individuals of various weights & 20 lb items.
  • Clearance through state mandated Background/Fingerprint Check(s).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others and individuals served.
