Job summary

Career Links is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year to support students with disabilities in a collaborative school team. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education.
  • Current or eligible Minnesota Special Education teaching license (PELSB).
  • Able to meet Minnesota school district employment requirements, including background checks.
  • Eligible for Minnesota Tier 2, Tier 3, or Tier 4 Special Education license.

Responsibilities

We are currently seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join a collaborative school team for the 2026–2027 school year. This position provides an opportunity to support students with diverse learning needs while working alongside educators, families, and related service providers in a student-centered environment.


Position Overview

The Special Education Teacher is responsible for providing specialized instruction and support services to students with disabilities in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The teacher will develop and implement instructional strategies, monitor student progress, collaborate with educational teams, and promote academic, behavioral, social, and functional success for students receiving special education services.


Instruction & Student Support


  • Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with parents, staff, and multidisciplinary team members.

  • Provide specially designed instruction aligned with Minnesota academic standards and individual student goals.

  • Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and classroom environments to meet diverse student needs.

  • Utilize evidence-based instructional, behavioral, and intervention strategies.

  • Monitor and assess student progress toward IEP goals and academic benchmarks.

  • Support students in developing academic, social-emotional, communication, and functional life skills.

  • Implement positive behavior support strategies and classroom management techniques.

  • Participate in IEP meetings, evaluation planning, eligibility determinations, and reevaluation processes.

  • Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, related service providers, and families to support student success.

  • Maintain compliance with IDEA, Section 504, Minnesota Department of Education requirements, and district policies.

  • Maintain accurate records, progress reports, service documentation, and special education paperwork.

  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and educational programming.


Professional Responsibilities


  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and information.

  • Participate in professional development activities and district training.

  • Collaborate with school teams to promote inclusive educational practices.

  • Support transition planning and post-secondary readiness when applicable.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by school administration.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Special Education from an accredited institution.

  • Current or eligible Minnesota Special Education teaching license issued through the Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB).

  • Ability to meet all Minnesota school district employment requirements, including background checks.

  • Eligible for a Minnesota Tier 2, Tier 3, or Tier 4 Special Education license

  • Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, special education compliance, and evidence-based instructional practices.

  • Strong communication, collaboration, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
