Job summary

Abraxas Youth & Family Services is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher in Marienville, PA. The role involves delivering diverse instructional methods, creating a conducive classroom setting, and maintaining accurate student records.

You will develop daily lesson plans, coordinate with school staff and families, and ensure compliance with special education laws. Candidates should have state certification, a bachelor’s degree in a related field, and meeting background clearances.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a subject area used for teaching.
• State certification in special education (public or private).
• At least 21 years of age.
• Criminal clearances (Act 33/34, state & child clearances, FBI if required).
• Valid driver's license and vehicle insurance.

Responsibilities

• Employ a variety of instructional methods and behavioral tools aligned with the school curriculum.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning for clients’ maturity.
• Maintain accurate client documents (attendance, grade books) and summarize achievements in reports.
• Develop daily lesson plans and complete required educational paperwork.
• Coordinate with clients, staff, school, and families; participate in meetings and trainings.
• Know and apply special education regulations for paperwork/caseloads.
• Support the Abraxas mission and Seven Key Principles of care.
• Demonstrate Safe Crisis Management techniques.

What You’ll Do

• Employ a wide variety of instructional methods, behavioral tools, and materials that are mostappropriate formeeting standard operating procedures and educationalobjectivesthat are outlined in the school curriculum.
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the clients’ maturity.
• Create and maintain accurate client/administrative documents such as daily attendance and grade books; summarize achievements in reports for assigned clients including attendance and behavior.
• Develops daily lesson plans and completes all required educational paperwork
• Participate as an educational team member in coordination with the clients, staff, and school and represent the program in professional meetings, family meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
• Knows and demonstrates special educational law or regulations as applying to the paperwork needed to carry a caseload.
• Supports the Abraxas philosophy and mission and promotes the Seven Key Principles of care.
• Demonstrates appropriate use of Safe Crisis Management techniques and skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field in subject matter that is utilized for teaching experience.
• State certification (public (level I or II) or private) in special education.
• At least twenty-one (21) years of age.
• Criminal clearances (Act 33 and 34, specific State & child clearances and, if necessary, FBI).
• Non-communicable diseases physical exam.
• Valid driver's license from employee’s state of residence.
• Valid registered vehicle insurance.
• Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.

Schedule

• Full-Time
• Monday through Friday; 8:00am to 4:00pm
