Job summary

Saint Catherine Academy, part of the Saint Catherine Center for Special Needs in Fairfield, CT, seeks a classroom teacher to implement differentiated instruction and ADL skills within an ESY/summer program. You will manage IEPs, collaborate with therapists, and lead a supportive classroom under the Director of Education.

The role emphasizes collaboration, documentation, and ongoing coaching with Teaching Assistants, aiming to improve student independence in academics and daily living tasks.

Qualifications

• Valid CT Certification – Comprehensive Special Education.
• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in education from an accredited institution; Master’s Degree preferred.
• Demonstrated excellence in communication and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, set goals and analyze data.

Responsibilities

• Formulates and oversees the implementation of an IEP for each student in accordance with school and district policy.
• Creates and implements daily lesson plans and monitors progress toward goals.
• Participates in PPT meetings and explains IEPs to parents.
• Collaborates with Teachers, Teaching Assistants, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists and Physical Therapists to coordinate services.
• Incorporates Assistive Technology tools to support students’ IEPs.
• Maintains organized classroom and communicates regularly with parents.
• Supervises Classroom Teachers Assistants and provides evaluative information to the Director of Education.
• Other duties as assigned.
