Job summary

Douglas County School District seeks a dedicated Special Education Assistant to support students with Significant Support Needs at Roxborough Primary. You will assist with mobility, health procedures, and daily living skills under the supervision of a licensed teacher, ensuring safety, engagement and independence throughout the day.

Experience with students with significant cognitive or physical disabilities is preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions for implementing IEPs, health plans, and behavior protocols with high fidelity.
• Strong commitment to student dignity, safety, and promoting the maximum level of independence for all students.
• Willingness and ability to assist students with personal care, toileting, and mobility, including lifting and transferring (with appropriate training and assistance).

Responsibilities

• Health, Mobility, & Safety: assist with positioning, transfers, mobility using specialized equipment, observe health procedures per training.
• Maintain a safe, clean learning environment and supervise students during transitions and meals.
• Functional & Life Skills Support: support IEP goals, daily living activities, communication, and behavior management.
