Job summary

Des Moines Public School District is seeking a Special Education Associate to support students with disabilities across classrooms and community settings. You will work under teachers' guidance, following behavior plans and assisting with daily activities, including personal care and bus loading.

The role emphasizes collaboration with staff, implementation of IEPs, and maintaining a safe learning environment throughout a 190-day calendar year.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, G.E.D, or HiSET required.
• Ability to relate to students with disabilities.
• Ability to cooperate with others.
• Oral and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with diverse students.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in instruction, supervision and care of students with disabilities across settings.
• Follow behavior management plans and maintain daily behavior logs.
• Assist with IEP implementation and prepare instructional materials.
• Perform personal care duties and assist with bus loading/unloading.
• Maintain safe and orderly instructional environment and assist with community instruction.
