Des Moines Public School District is seeking an Early Childhood/Early Childhood Special Education Associate for the 2026-27 school year. Location choices include JF Taylor Education Center, McKee Educational Center, and Smouse/Woodlawn in Des Moines, IA. Salary is $17.78 to $22.61 per hour; 190 days per year.

The role supports preschool students, with duties ranging from supervision to instructional support and meeting IEP requirements under teacher guidance. 1- or 2-person classrooms possible.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students during transitions, lunch, and bus loading/unloading.
• Assist with curriculum planning and materials preparation under teacher guidance.
• Supervise meals and model proper etiquette.
• Follow IEP-based behavior plans and implement strategies to support behavior.
• Monitor and document progress on students' IEPs as directed.
• Perform personal care tasks such as feeding and toileting as needed.
• Participate in trainings including first aid, CPR, and abuse trainings.
• Attend family orientations and IEP meetings as required.
