Job summary

Madison Metropolitan School District is seeking a motivated Special Education Assistant to support students with disabilities from 4K through 12th grade. Under supervision, you will provide instructional support, behavioral intervention, personal care, and data collection to help students access learning.

The role emphasizes inclusive practices, collaboration with licensed professionals, and adherence to FERPA/HIPAA policies.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree required.
• Completion of 48 academic credits beyond high school.
• Pass an onsite district assessment or the district may offer an assessment.

Responsibilities

• Instructional Support & Academic Assistance: Support 4K centers and academic reinforcement across 4K–12, and transition services for 18–21.
• Behavioral Intervention & Student Supervision: Implement behavior support plans and supervise students during meals, recess, field trips, and bus loading/unloading.
• Personal Care & Physical Assistance: Assist with daily living tasks, mobility, and use of adaptive devices.
• Data Collection & Documentation: Collect data and maintain confidentiality in student records.
