Job summary

Madison Metropolitan School District is seeking a Special Education Assistant to support students with disabilities across 4K-12, under supervision of licensed staff. The role emphasizes behavior support, personal care, data collection, and collaboration with educators.

The position requires an Associate’s Degree or equivalent, Wisconsin SIPA license eligibility, and the ability to work in a diverse, in-person school environment. Starting pay is on a 26–27 salary schedule and non-exempt.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree required or equivalent
• Completion of 48 college credits beyond high school is acceptable
• Pass an onsite assessment offered by the District for eligibility

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support and academic assistance across 4K-12 settings, including early childhood and transition-age supports.
• Assist with behavioral interventions, supervision during meals, field trips, and bus loading/unloading.
• Perform daily living and personal care tasks with dignity and safety in mind; support mobility and use of assistive technology.
• Collect and document progress data and maintain FERPA/HIPAA compliant records.
