Job summary

Southeastern University in Lakeland, FL is seeking a Paraprofessional to support Pathways School of Excellence students with disabilities under the supervision of teachers and principals.

You will assist with classroom activities, manage daily living skills, and provide one-on-one support, including during transitions and meals, while collaborating with tutors and therapists to meet student needs. A High School diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications

• Understand written and oral instructions.
• Speak and write coherently, to keep records and make reports.
• Professionalism with students, faculty, staff, and outside agencies.
• Work in small groups with students and assist the classroom teacher.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher with instructional duties for students.
• Perform clerical duties for records and reporting.
• Assist students with bathroom needs and daily living skills.
• Provide one-on-one assistance for students with disabilities.
• Use de-escalation strategies to manage crises and transitions.
• Assist with elopement behaviors and mobility during transitions.
• Collaborate with tutors, volunteers, and therapists to support student needs.
