Job summary

Progress South Elementary is seeking a Paraprofessional to support students with disabilities under the supervision of teachers. The role emphasizes assisting instruction, behavior support, and daily living skills, with a 9-month school-year schedule and seven-hour workdays including a 30-minute unpaid lunch.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent; preferred are 60 college hours and the ability to obtain substitute teacher certification.

Qualifications

• A minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent is required.
• Experience working with children is preferred.
• Preference will be given to candidates with sixty (60) college hours and ability to obtain substitute teacher certification.
• Experience with students with disabilities, behavioral needs, or in educational settings is strongly preferred.
• Candidates must demonstrate flexibility, reliability, and commitment to diverse learners.

Responsibilities

• Assist the special education or general education teacher with instruction of students with disabilities.
• Meet the needs of all students with disabilities under the direction of school staff.
• Monitor and assist students to complete tasks, providing accommodations per IEP.
• Assist with physical care of students as needed (diaper changes, bathroom, feeding).
• Model and reinforce positive behaviors and support daily living skills.
• Assist in data collection related to IEP goals and lead activities under teacher direction.
• Escort students to and from classes, activities, and transportation as needed.
• Maintain documentation and records for student files and computer files.
