Job summary

Hamilton County Schools seeks dedicated staff to support students with disabilities under the guidance of licensed special education teachers. Positions involve one-on-one and small group assistance, developing and implementing IEPs, and collaborating with teachers to meet individual student needs.

Responsibilities include preparing instructional materials, monitoring student progress, and providing essential classroom support.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; basic technology skills preferred.
• One year of experience working with students with disabilities preferred.
• Knowledge to support PreK-12 general curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Training in or willingness to be trained in nonviolent crisis intervention techniques.
• Verbal and nonverbal techniques to prevent or de-escalate student behavior.
• Communicate empathy, conflict behavior, and rectifying statements during incidents.
• Maintain group during emergencies or teacher absence.
• Assist with development and implementation of Individual Education Programs (IEPs).
• Assist with data collection and progress monitoring of student development and needs.
• Perform clerical tasks in support of teaching activities and school operations.
• Chaperone students on field trips during the school day.
