Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with basic technology and clerical skills; equivalent experience acceptable.
• Knowledge to support PreK-12 curriculum and instructional goals.
• Must meet one of: 48 sem. hours/72 quarter hours, associate’s degree or higher, or PRAXIS Parapro scoring.
• One year of experience with students with disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Training or willingness to be trained in nonviolent crisis intervention techniques.
• Use verbal and nonverbal strategies to de-escalate student behavior.
• Apply a three-part empathy statement and rectifying communication during conflicts.
• Maintain group during emergencies or teacher absence.
• Provide educational assistance and adapt materials to student needs; assist with IEPs and data collection.
• Offer physical assistance per IEP, including positioning, lifting, or feeding as required.
