Job summary

Anne Arundel County Public Schools is seeking a Teacher Assistant: Special Education to support instructional activities for students with disabilities. The role involves assisting in supervision, monitoring progress, and implementing IEP goals under the guidance of teachers.

The position requires a high school diploma (or equivalency) and, for Title I schools, 48 college credits or a paraprofessional assessment.

Qualifications

Demonstrated patience with students who have physical, cognitive and behavior challenges.
Willingness to learn and implement instructional methods and strategies.
Ability to meet IEP goals and district benchmarks.
Ability to present and reinforce learning concepts.
Ability to use technology and software for instruction and documentation.

Responsibilities

Adapts classroom activities, assignments and materials under the teacher's direction to support objectives.
Assists in implementing instructional programs and provides instruction in various activities.
Participates in implementing IEP goals and behavioral plans for students with behavioral needs.
Performs clerical tasks to assist in preparing instructional materials.
Maintains data collection and documentation of activities and assistance provided to students.
Attends meetings and professional trainings.
