Job summary

Houston R-I School District is seeking a dedicated paraprofessional to assist teachers in developing instructional programs for students individually or in groups. You will help prepare materials, support classroom discipline, and conduct planned activities using teacher-designated methods and resources.

The position emphasizes working with students with special needs, data collection, and collaboration with teachers and staff to ensure an environment of learning and safety.

Qualifications

• Minimum of sixty college hours, or an active Missouri substitute certificate.
• Active Missouri substitute certification within 30 days of employment.
• Strong technology and office equipment skills.

Responsibilities

• Embrace and support the district mission of “Expecting Excellence… Learning for All.”
• Assist in classroom behavior management per district procedures.
• Maintain class and student records, data collection, and assessments.
• Perform clerical functions in student record keeping, monitor assignments, and IEP goal tracking.
• Provide remedial instruction under supervision of a special education teacher.
• Support substitute teachers in the absence of the classroom teacher.
• Participate in staff development, faculty meetings, and special events.
• Assist school personnel with daily activities and supervise traffic, crossings, and lunch/recess.
