Job summary

Darlington County School District is seeking an Exceptional Education Shadow for the 2026-2027 school year at Carolina Elementary School. The role supports students with special needs in the general education setting and assists with implementing IEP objectives.

The position is a full-time, 183-day assignment with a base salary of $21,066, contingent on education and experience. A negative TB test is required on file prior to starting work.

Qualifications

• Minimum of sixty (60) academic credit hours from an accredited institution of higher education.
• If no degree, an associate degree or higher may satisfy requirements.
• High School Diploma or the equivalent may satisfy requirements.
• AND Ready to Work Credentials and related assessments (WIN, Work Keys, ParaPro) are required or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Act as a mandated reporter to ensure student safety.
• Adapt activities to support and reinforce classroom objectives and IEP goals.
• Administer tests, homework, and make-up work to support student needs.
• Assist students with personal care needs and transitions as required.
• Communicate progress to supervising staff and health professionals.
• Escort students to ensure safe arrivals and departures.
• Implement interventions under teacher supervision to reinforce learning concepts.
• Monitor and report on student behavior and schedule.
• Provide instruction in individual and group activities per IEP plans.

Education
