Job summary

Comstock Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Social Worker for grades K-12 at Comstock High School. The role requires coordination of IEP/504 plans, restorative practices and SEL programming with a focus on student wellbeing.

Qualified candidates hold a School Social Worker certificate/registration, with MI teaching certification and SPED endorsement preferred. Salary starts at $49,044 and benefits may include loan forgiveness and tuition reimbursement under the CEA contract.

Qualifications

CERTIFICATION

• School Social Worker Certificate or Registration, required


• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with Special Education Endorsement, preferred

QUALIFICATIONS

• Effectively demonstrates facilitation skills, leadership skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, students, and staff


• Experience and/or training in utilizing academic interventions and supporting students who have IEP's


• Extensive experience working with youth, families, and community organizations


• Experience in the development and facilitation of professional development


• Experience working in a multicultural environment supporting anti-bias and anti-racist practices


• Experience supporting restorative practices

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Individual and group sessions to help students cope with personal, social, academic, and family concerns


• Coordinate student culture processes including Restorative Practices, PBIS, and Leader In Me


• Teach classroom SEL lessons and support school wide SEL


• Coordinate IEP and 504 plans


• Work with McKinney Vento families and \"at-risk\" students


• Support students with chronic discipline issues; monitor and identify attendance issues; meet with parents to help rectify these issues


• Seek outside counseling support for students and families.


• Additional duties as assigned
