Job summary

Comstock Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional for Comstock High School to support students in a Moderate Cognitive Impairment classroom. The position requires 35 hours per week and an immediate start.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent and one of the specified qualifications (AA, BA, 60 hours, or ACT WorkKeys). District support includes benefits and opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; and one of the following.
• Associate's Degree
• Bachelor's Degree
• 60 hours of coursework
• Passed the ACT WorkKeys exam
• Employees who have worked for the district for one school year are eligible to have the district pay for one ACT WorkKeys or the Parapro Assessment ETS Test to become qualified.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate learning in a Moderate Cognitive Impairment Classroom.
• Implement activities/lesson plans as directed by the special education instructor.
• Support classroom environment and program as directed.
• Assist with IEP accommodations, modifications, and instructional supports as directed.
• Attend professional development outside of the academic day as scheduled by the principal.
• Assist children with educational, physical, personal, and emotional needs.
• Implement behavioral strategies as directed by the special education teacher.
• Collect student data as directed by the teacher.
• Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Perform other duties as assigned by administration.

SALARY:

Dependent on years of school paraprofessional experience
Hourly rate starting at $17.03

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Facilitate learning of students in a Moderate Cognitive Impairment Classroom
• Implement individual/group activities/lesson plans as directed/supervised by the special education instructor
• Assume responsibility for individuals or groups as directed to support the classroom environment & program
• Assist with implementation of students' IEP accommodations, modifications, and instructional supports as directed by the teacher.
• Attend professional development opportunities outside of the academic day as scheduled by the principal
• Assist children with educational, physical, personal, and emotional needs
• Implement classroom and individual behavioral strategies as directed by the special education teacher.
• Collect student data as directed by the special education teacher.
• Champion and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Other duties as assigned by administration
• Perform essential job functions as specified for this position
