Job summary

Abilities First, Inc. is seeking patient, energetic, and passionate Teacher Aides for our LaGrange School program in Poughkeepsie, NY. The role supports an interdisciplinary team and focuses on educational programming for school-age children at all levels of ability.

The schedule runs Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 3:00 pm (32.5 hours per week, 48 weeks per year including a 6-week summer program). The pay range is $17.08–$19.08 per hour, with benefits as detailed in the perks.

Qualifications

• Patient in interactions with students and families.
• Energetic, positive classroom presence.
• Experience or interest in early childhood education is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Follow classroom schedule to ensure goals are met.
• Assist in classroom activities and student engagement.
• Keep student work areas organized and materials ready.
• Assist in creating teacher-developed materials.
• Participate in staff meetings and training.
• Support students during therapy sessions and transitions.
• Help with mobility and positioning using safe practices.
• Assist in dressing, feeding, and daily routines as needed.
• Set up computers and adaptive equipment for learning.
