Job summary

Mesa Public Schools in Mesa, Arizona is seeking a Teacher - Special Education (Resource) at Kino Junior High to implement the district curriculum and create engaging learning experiences for students with diverse needs.

The successful candidate will maintain a positive classroom, develop IEPs, collaborate with families and staff, and use data to guide instruction. Certifications in special education and experience with resource room settings are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in special education or related field.
• Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate for the subject area.
• Course work should include foundations of special education, behavior management techniques, assessment and evaluation methods, instructional strategies for students with disabilities and inclusive teaching practices.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of related subject matter, instructional skills, and resource materials.
• Utilizes a variety of effective instructional and management techniques.
• Considers individual learning needs and abilities in preparation and utilization of lesson plans, materials, and assessments.
• Utilizes district-adopted textbooks and curriculum guides in planning and implementation.
• Incorporates higher level thinking and real-life applications into lesson planning.
• Develops lesson plans and IEP goals aligned with objectives.
• Communicates with parents and school personnel regarding progress.
• Establishes positive classroom and campus management per policies.
• Develops IEPs for each student.
