POSITION TITLE: Special Education Resource Teacher

Qualifications
- ValidMichiganSpecialEducationCertificationwithSLD Endorsement preferred (EI, ASD or CI endorsements would be considered) .
- MustmeettheElementaryandSecondaryEducation/EveryStudentSucceedsAct.
- Two(2)yearsteachingexperience preferred.
- Awarenessofthephysical,social,emotionalandmentaldevelopmentofthe learner.
- Proficientandknowledgeableinthesubjectarea.
- Abilitytoworkeffectivelyandcollaborativelywithstudents,parentsandstaff.
- Strongcommunicationandorganizationalskills.
- Knowledgeof dataandhowitisusedtoinforminstruction.
- Proficientwithtechnologyasaninstructionaltool.
Responsibilities
- DetermineinstructionalneedsofstudentsbasedonIEPassessmentdataanddistrict curriculum.
- Providedirectand/orsupplementalinstructiontostudents.
- Ability to evaluate students' current levels of academic performance using district standardforSpecialEducationTesting(NWEA)andassessmentdataofprogress towards IEP goals and the curriculum.
- Serve/participateonMulti-DisciplinaryTeam.
- Abilitytomanagestudentbehaviortomaximizeengagementinlearning.
- AbilitytoapplyknowledgeofCo-teachingandPBISbestpracticestomeetstudent needs.
- Monitorprogressandaccommodatecurriculumtosupportacademicachievement.
- Abilitytocoordinatewithgeneraleducationteachers,parents,andbuildingstaffto facilitate student progress and growth.
- AbilitytofacilitateparentmeetingssuchasparentteacherconferencesandIEPs.
- Abilitytoeffectivelycommunicatewithstudentsandparentsregardingstudents'goals and progress.
- Abilitytocoordinateandplanclassroomactivitieswithgeneraleducationstafftomeet curriculum expectations and IEP goals.
- Performotherdutiesasassigned.
