Job summary

Qualifications

• State Certification as a Special Education Teacher. Maine DOE 286 or 282.
• Bachelor's from an accredited college or university in education discipline.
• Master’s Degree in Special Education, preferred.
• Previous special education teaching experience for appropriate grade level preferred.
• Organizational skills and ability to implement positive behavioral supports.

Responsibilities

• Conducts assessments, testing and diagnostic exams to identify learning issues and needs.
• Participates in meetings and develops Individual Educational Plans (IEP).
• Helps implement IEPs and behavior management plans with students and staff.
• Coordinates with outside agencies and authorities as needed.
• Maintains student records and communicates with parents and colleges.
• Supports ongoing professional growth and collaboration with educators.
