Job summary

Magen David Yeshivah in Brooklyn is seeking an experienced General Studies Special Education Teacher with a Master's degree to provide reading support and literacy instruction for small groups of 1-6 students in grades 1-5.

The role involves push-in/pull-out support, curriculum modification, progress reporting to parents, collaboration with curriculum coaches, and contributing to a warm, mission-driven school with competitive salary and benefits.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree or NY Certification in Special Education.
• Experience working with special education students in small groups on reading decoding and comprehension.
• Experience developing hands-on approach and creative learning techniques for struggling learners.
• Experience modifying curriculum and scaffolding instruction for struggling learners.

Responsibilities

• Provide support in reading decoding and reading comprehension.
• Modify curriculum to address the needs and limitations of struggling students.
• Communicate regularly with parents on student progress.
• Develop alternative assessment methods for students to show what they've learned.
• Work with curriculum coaches to address learning gaps in students' skills and knowledge.
