Job summary

Cumberland School Department seeks a Special Education Coordinator to serve as the LEA representative at Evaluation Team Meetings and IEP Team meetings, working with building administrators and the Director of Special Education to ensure quality services for students with IEPs.

The Coordinator will foster collaboration, demonstrate depth of knowledge in special education law, and lead program development, budgeting, and service delivery models while maintaining strong communication with parents

Qualifications

• Must hold RI Dept. of Ed. Certification.
• Collaborates with building leadership regarding curriculum and student needs.
• Analyzes student data related to state and local assessments.
• Develops and implements service delivery models with leadership.
• Coordinates transitions and ensures IEPs meet standards.

Responsibilities

• Chair Evaluation Team and IEP meetings as LEA representative.
• Coordinate professional development with Director of Special Education.
• Develop annual budget for personnel and expenditures.
• Coordinate Extended School Year services for students.
• Supervise extended school year services.
• Ensure IEPs meet regulatory and district standards with fidelity.
• Communicate effectively with parents and staff.
• Promote collaboration between special and general education.
