Job summary

Norman Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to support instructional activities and supervise students in classrooms and during non-instructional times.

The role requires meeting Tier 1 paraprofessional requirements (education or approved testing) and Tier 2 training with CPR/First Aid and universal precautions. A high school diploma or GED is required, and college hours are preferred to assist meeting Tier 1. Previous work with children is a plus.

Qualifications

• Tier 1 paraprofessional requirements include: two years of college coursework (minimum 48 hours) or an associate's degree or passing WorkKeys/ParaPro/OGET.
• Tier 2 requirements include completing training, CPR/First Aid, Universal Precautions/Bloodborne Pathogens, and six hours of annual professional development.
• Education: high school diploma or GED; college hours preferred to assist meeting Tier 1.
• Training/Experience: must meet Tier 1 requirements; prior work or volunteer experience with children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with instruction and activities for individuals or groups as assigned by the teacher.
• Supervise students in instructional settings, off-campus activities, and during non-instructional times.
• Prepare or adapt instructional materials and teaching aids as directed.
• Assist with student behavior management and confidentiality.
