Job summary

Dessert Sands Public Charter School in Lake Los Angeles, CA is seeking a Paraprofessional to support teachers in a specialized program, assist with tutoring and data entry, and help implement student learning plans.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of college or an Associate degree from an accredited state college
• Pass a local assessment of knowledge and skills in assisting in instruction issued by an approved Local education agency
• Experience working with students and with low income and at-risk populations
• Experience in the education of individuals with exceptional needs, deaf or hard of hearing, or related CTE/Literacy content area
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Responsibilities

• Assist educators in instructional duties and general responsibilities such as organizing and providing tutorial support
• Provide tutoring support and sign language interpretation to students
• Assist in related data entry for students enrolling in the program or school
• Coordinate program implementation and support maintenance efforts such as student transportation and field trips
• Translate communications between students and teachers
