Job summary

The Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic schools seek a Special Education Aide to provide instructional, behavioral, and social-emotional support to students with identified learning differences and needs. You will work under teachers and support staff to help students access curriculum, participate in activities, and develop independence.

Qualifications include a high school diploma and experience with diverse learners; paraprofessional certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree, paraprofessional certification, or coursework in education, child development, special education, or related field preferred.
• Previous experience working with children, especially with diverse learning needs, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one and small-group instructional support as directed by teachers.
• Assist students in understanding and completing classroom assignments.
• Reinforce academic concepts and learning strategies introduced by the teacher.
• Support students in developing organizational, study, and self-advocacy skills.
• Encourage student independence while providing appropriate assistance.
