Job summary

MCLEAN COUNTY UNIT DISTRICT #5 is seeking a Paraprofessional - Special Education to support students with learning disabilities, autism, or mild behavioral challenges in a general education setting within the district's special education program.

The role involves coordinating with teachers, preparing teaching materials, and assisting with instruction and student supervision across classrooms, halls, and field trips. A valid paraprofessional or professional educator license is required.

Qualifications

• Must possess an educator license with stipulations endorsed for paraprofessional educator or professional educator license at the time of hire.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills to work with teachers, education support personnel, building administrators and the general public.

Responsibilities

• Discusses duties with classroom teachers to coordinate instructional efforts.
• Prepares lesson materials and displays as needed.
• Presents subject matter under direction of teachers.
• Supervises students in various settings and on field trips.
• Maintains confidentiality and ethical standards.
• Assists with self-care, hygiene, and feeding as necessary.
• May assist substitute teachers and perform other teacher aide duties as assigned.
