Job summary

MCLEAN COUNTY UNIT DISTRICT #5 is seeking a Paraprofessional - Special Education to support students with learning disabilities, autism, or mild behaviors in a general education setting at NCHS. This role works closely with classroom teachers to provide instructional support.

The position requires an educator license with stipulations for paraprofessional or professional educator license, and a registered license with ROE #17.

Qualifications

• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills to work with teachers, staff and the public.
• Must be able to maintain professional relationships with colleagues and students.
• Must be detail oriented and able to follow policies and procedures.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 10 lbs.
• Requires educator license with stipulations for paraprofessional or professional educator license.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate instructional efforts with classroom teachers.
• Prepare lesson materials and displays as needed.
• Present subject matter to students under direction.
• Supervise students in various settings and during field trips.
• Distribute materials and collect assignments.
• Enforce school regulations and maintain student confidentiality.
• Support students with self-care and use adaptive equipment as needed.
• Assist the lead teacher and substitute teachers as required.
