Job summary

Iowa City Community School District's Hoover Elementary in Iowa City, IA is hiring a Special Education Paraprofessional for 3.25 hours per day to support students with IEP goals and collaborate with school staff.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation of student's IEPs and support in the preparation and organization of instructional materials and equipment.
• Implement behavior strategies and participate in ongoing training to prevent, minimize, and manage behavioral challenges with dignity and safety.
• Assist with and/or perform personal care and hygiene activities as necessitated by the needs of the student.
• Participate in training and support the implementation of alternate communication devices as needed.
• Participate in verbal de-escalation and crisis management training provided by the District.
• Maintain student documentation, Medicaid logs, and progress monitoring.
• Support in the transition of students on and off the bus and bus rider training.
• Create and maintain positive working relationships with the school community, students, and other employees.
• Attends work on a prompt and regular basis.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Other duties as assigned.
