Job summary

Omaha Public Schools Highland Elementary in Omaha, Nebraska is seeking a part-time Paraprofessional - Special Education for the second semester starting January 2027. This temporary role assists classroom teachers, monitors student progress, and maintains records.

The position requires an Associate's degree or 48 semester hours (or equivalent competency) and the ability to lift 50 pounds. Work schedule is 5.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday, with duties including supervision during lunch

Qualifications

Requires an Associate's degree or completion of 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours, or demonstrated proficiency via competency test.
Maintain high level of confidentiality regarding student and staff information.
Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physical tasks.
Regular attendance and ability to work with diverse students.

Responsibilities

Reinforce learning for individual students or small groups under teacher guidance.
Observe and record behaviors and support behavior modification as designed by the teacher.
Develop professional rapport with staff and assist with classroom routines.
Assist students at arrival and dismissal and supervise during lunch/recess.
Carry out assigned duties and participate in professional development.
