Job summary

St. Landry Parish School Board's Park Vista Elementary in Opelousas, LA is seeking a Long Term Substitute ESS Paraprofessional to assist teachers with instructional activities and student support.

The paraprofessional must have a high school diploma or equivalent, be qualified by the required options, possess strong written and verbal communication, and complete Red Cross

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Candidates must be Highly Qualified by passing the Paraprofessional Exam OR 48 college credits with 6 math and 9 English/Reading (3 English Comp) OR an associate degree from an accredited institution.
• Must have effective written and oral self-expression skills.
• Red Cross First Aid Course including CPR completed within 60 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher with instructional-related activities and non-instructional tasks (one-on-one or small group).
• Work with students under supervision of instructional staff and related therapists.
• Perform non-complex medical procedures as allowed by Louisiana regulations.
• Assist and escort students to destinations and attend to personal care needs, including feeding, toileting, lifting, and positioning as instructed.
• Make accommodations/modifications for students as directed by teachers.
• Guide independent study and remedial work as assigned.
