Job summary

DeKalb County School District seeks a Paraprofessional in Special Education to support classroom instruction and student needs at Redan ES. The role focuses on implementing high academic expectations and promoting student learning under the guidance of a certified teacher.

The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with the teaching team, assist with health-related care per IEP and district policy, and communicate effectively in writing and speech to support student success.

Qualifications

• Supports teachers in meeting educational, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with team members.

Responsibilities

• Assists students with physical and personal care needs per IEP and district policy.
• Supports students with health-related care needs when trained and authorized.
• Assists with health care procedures, including medications, as needed for daily care.
• Provides small groups and/or individualized instruction per teacher lesson plans.
• Monitors students before/after school and during non-instructional transitions.
• Assists teachers with daily classroom management to maintain an effective learning environment.
