Job summary

Deer Creek School District is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to support students at Deer Creek High School under the supervision of certified staff. The role includes reinforcing reading and math, assisting with tests and materials, supervising students, and aiding in IEP-related tasks.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent and be capable of working with students with diverse needs, including those with disabilities.

Qualifications

• Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
• Ability to understand and apply basic math and computer skills (Word, Excel).
• Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, and computer instruction.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement programs.
• Assist in administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests and assessments.
• Prepare instructional materials and reinforce skills based on individual student needs.
• Maintain records documenting student learning and performance.
• Support classroom behavior management to maintain a safe, orderly environment.
• Supervise students in non-instructional areas (lunch, bus, playground, hallways).
• Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
• Assist with parent contact to foster involvement in education.
• Assist students with special needs to maximize inclusion and learning per IEP objectives.
• Participate in IEP processes as requested.
