Evanston/Skokie School District 65 seeks a Special Education Paraprofessional to support instructional programs at Dewey Elementary School. The role includes supervising and assisting with instruction for students with special needs in classrooms or self-contained settings, and helping implement IEP plans.

The position reports to the Principal and requires a Bachelor's degree with appropriate educator licensure options. Starting salary and benefits are outlined for the 2026-2027 school year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a job-related area.

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom activities and materials under the supervising teacher to reinforce objectives.
• Administers tests, homework, and make-up work to support instructional staff.
• Provides first aid and medical assistance as needed under health care professional guidance.
• Assists medically fragile or physically disabled students with personal hygiene.
• Attends meetings and trainings for job function information sharing.
• Communicates with supervising staff and parents to evaluate progress and implement IEP objectives.
• Implements behavioral plans designed by IEP teams to support learning.
• Maintains instructional materials and records for mandated requirements.
• Monitors students in various environments to maintain safety and a positive learning environment.
• Provides instruction to students in individual and group activities to reinforce objectives and IEP plans.
