Job summary

Isana is seeking a Special Education Assistant to support students with academic and behavioral needs in a Los Angeles area school. The role involves implementing IEPs, supporting teachers, and collecting data daily to inform goals.

You will work one-to-one and in small groups, use ABA/CPI strategies, and collaborate with staff to differentiate instruction, monitor progress, and promote positive behavior.

Qualifications

• Must meet ESSA-based education requirements: high school diploma or equivalent and college coursework or degree.
• Experience with special needs children and knowledge of autism spectrum disorders preferred.
• Familiarity with ABA, Floor Time, DTT and behavior programs is desirable.
• Strong communication, patience, creativity and reliability are essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with classroom routines, tasks, and completing assignments with increasing independence.
• Clarify, rephrase, and repeat instructions; support weekly lesson planning with teachers.
• Differentiate instruction and implement academic and behavioral accommodations.
• Support behavioral plans and collect data on academic and behavioral progress.
• Use ABA, CPI, and related strategies to prevent and address challenging behaviors.
• Assist with mobility and fine motor tasks as needed; sit on floor, stand, or move as required.
