Job summary

Mesa County Valley School District 51 in Colorado is seeking a Paraprofessional, Special Education (Sped) – Significant Support (SOAR). Under the direction of licensed staff and building leadership, you will support instructional delivery, help implement IEP goals, assist with data collection, and foster a structured, safe learning environment for students with disabilities.

You will work with individual students or small groups, reinforce positive behavior, provide personal care and safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's degree or 48 college hours or WorkKeys required for Title I schools.
• Two years of experience with children preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish required when assigned to bilingual program.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of teacher-designed instruction in individual, small-group, and classroom settings.
• Assist in implementing IEP goals, accommodations, and modifications under licensed staff.
• Adapt and prepare instructional materials to meet diverse learning and sensory needs.
• Support student engagement through prompting, cueing, modeling, and scaffolding.
• Assist with maintaining structured, predictable learning routines and assistive environments.
• Provide support with assistive technology, communication systems, or adaptive equipment.
• Monitor student behavior and social-emotional needs; support crisis plans when needed.
• Assist with personal care needs and safety procedures as directed.
• Collect and record data on IEP goals and progress; maintain confidential documentation.
• Supervise students during arrivals, transitions, and activities; participate in meetings.
