Job summary

CESA 6 is seeking an Alternative School Paraprofessional to support students with social and emotional learning and academics in an off-site setting. You will assist teachers in delivering instruction and monitoring student progress.

You will collaborate with a diverse team, support students with behavioral needs, and apply NVCI methods when appropriate to maintain a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required for eligibility.
• Special Education Program Aide certification; reimbursement after hire.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care and de-escalation strategies helpful.
• CPI certification for Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training.
• Experience in behavioral self-contained classrooms or special education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a strong teaching/support team involving a variety of educational professionals.
• Contribute to a positive, student-centered teaching team.
• Support students with emotional and behavioral challenges and assist them in developing social and regulation skills.
• Work with students, in groups or individually, on instructional tasks.
• Assist the classroom teacher with classroom management and implementing strategies.
• Foster a safe, nurturing learning environment for students with emotional and behavioral needs.
• Use NVCI Training methods when needed.
• Perform clerical work: attendance, recording behaviors, updating student files.
• Pursue professional growth based on feedback and best practice.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
