Job summary

CESA 6 seeks an Alternative School Paraprofessional to support students with emotional and behavioral needs in an off-site setting, assisting the Alternative School Teacher(s) with social and emotional instruction and academics.

You will work with a team to implement strategies, manage classroom challenges, and help students develop self-regulation skills while maintaining records and supporting a nurturing, safe learning environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Special Education Program Aide certification or reimbursement after hire.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care and de-escalation strategies.
• CPI certification in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention.
• Prior experience in behavioral self-contained classrooms preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a strong teaching/support team.
• Support students with emotional and behavioral challenges and help develop social, emotional, and academic skills.
• Assist with instructional tasks in group or individual settings.
• Support the teacher in classroom management and instruction.
• Maintain a safe, positive learning environment and document daily behaviors.
• Record attendance and behavior notes; manage student files and reports.
