Job summary

CESA 6 is seeking a Substitute Special Education (EBD) Teacher to support students requiring a structured setting focused on social-emotional learning and academics in an off-site alternative school.

The role involves teaching general academics to students with emotional and behavioral challenges, delivering SEL and executive function support, and collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to foster a safe, respectful learning environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education required.
• Special Education Teacher certification from the Wisconsin DPI, or in progress.
• Knowledge of disabilities, instructional techniques, behavioral interventions & classroom structure.
• Familiarity with state/federal policies for alternative education.

Responsibilities

• Perform classroom management, plan and implement teaching strategies.
• Teach general academics aligned to curriculum and standards to students with EBD.
• Teach social and emotional learning, regulation, executive function & problem solving.
• Collaborate with a strong teaching/support team of educational professionals.
• Build positive relationships with students and staff.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Education

Special Education Teacher certification (WI DPI)

Knowledge of behavioral interventions and SEL

Interpersonal skills and collaboration

CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training (willing to train)
