Job summary

Lakeville Community Schools is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to provide academic and behavioral support for students with identified needs. The role collaborates with teachers and administration to ensure services are delivered without disruption to core instruction.

The ideal candidate will have a High School diploma or equivalent and meet Highly Qualified criteria as defined by No Child Left Behind.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Highly Qualified per No Child Left Behind: one of the following: Associate's Degree or 60+ college credits or MTTC Basic Skills verification or WorkKeys Reading/Writing/Applied Math
• Passing ETS Paraprofessional Assessment (if applicable)
• Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports, and speak effectively before groups

Responsibilities

• Provide students with additional opportunities and skills for learning academic skills.
• Collaborate with building principal to schedule supplemental services without removing students from core instruction.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to identify student needs and support those identified for service.
• Provide instructional support in push-in or pull-out settings as directed by the principal.
• Model effective instructional practices and coordinate with intervention programs.
• Help students solve problems and develop plans for success.
• Maintain data on student progress and share achievement data with principal and teachers.
• Compile evaluative reports on student achievement with the principal.
